The trail Around Biokovo is a classic 100 km road cycling loop around the Biokovo mountain range, connecting the Makarska Riviera with the vast landscapes of its hinterland. The route combines coastal roads, quieter inland sections and the rugged scenery of the Biokovo region, with 1,628 metres of elevation gain along the way.

The first 20 kilometres follow the D8 coastal road, where extra attention is required due to traffic. After the climb towards Dubci, the route becomes quieter as it heads into the hinterland, with two particularly rewarding climbs along the way – Turija Tunnel and Kozica.

The return towards the coast is one of the highlights of the ride. From Gornje Igrane, the road descends towards the Makarska Riviera, opening up spectacular views of the Adriatic, with Brač, Hvar and the Pelješac peninsula stretching across the horizon. Make sure to stock up in Zagvozd, as there are no shops or cafés on the route until you reach the coast again.

With 100 kilometres of riding and 1,628 metres of elevation gain, Around Biokovo is a must-ride for experienced road cyclists exploring the Makarska Riviera – a challenging but highly rewarding way to discover both sides of Biokovo.
